Transmutation of base-metals into gold as described in the text Rasārṇavakalpa and its comparison with the parallel Chinese methods
Rasārṇavakalpa1 is a Sanakrit text giving alchemical recipes. It is edited and translated into English by Roy and Subbarayappa. They date it an 11th century work. Here an attempt is made to understand the transmutation processes of Rasārṇavakalpa from a chemical view point. A close parallel of these methods to those prevalent in China in medieval times is also pointed out.
