Glimpses of the development of mechanics from ancient period of renaissance
Present paper deals with the historical development of the subject of mechanics from Ancient times to Renaissance. All the important turning points of the annals of the mechanics have been duly emphasised. In particular the great works of Aristotle, Archimedes, Ptolemy, Bhāskara II, Oresme, Leconardo, Copernicus, Stevin, Kepler, Descartes, Huygens, Galileo, Newton, Bernoulli, Euler, D'Alembert and Lagrange have been appropriately mentioned in the context of the evolution of mechanics, which is a significant aspect of mathematics.
